Sansevieria abyssinica
Sansevieria abyssinica is unusual in that both sides of the leaves are very rough, the topside slightly, and the underside as rough as sandpaper. It grows with 1-2 leaves to a growth to about 24" long, a mid-green with a lighter green crossbanding. The leaves are very rigid and curves upward. This slow growing species originated in Ethiopia and is rather hard to find.

Sansevieria ballyi
Sansevieria ballyi is an interesting plant in that it 'travels' by means of above ground stolons that grow to about 6" then sets down roots, creating a new plant. The leaves are stiff and only reach about 4-5" long and curve inward lengthwise to forma groove. The dark green leaves are cross-banded in light green and have a spiny tip. With it's growth habit, this Sanseveria is perfect for a hanging basket or very wide pot.

Sansevieria ballyi 12681 has the same form as the regular ballyi but this one has longer leaves, lighter green with widely spaced dark green cross-banding and channels that only go half way up the leaf. 12681 spreads slowly by stolons.

Sansevieria bella 'Mutomo'
Sansevieria bella 'Mutomo' at first appears similar to S. suffruticosa but Mutomo has much thicker and larger, a light green with dark green crossbanding, and forms rosettes. The crossbanding fades as the plant ages and the leaves are round with small to no channels. Mutomo produces above ground stolens and the leaf tips are hard and sharp!

Sansevieria burdettii is rare in cultivation and is native to the Kapichira Falls in Malawi. It has dark green elliptical leaves that are stiff and grow in a distichous fan shape. Burdettii at first looks like S. schweinfurthii but is very different upon close inspection.

Sansevieria canaliculata has solitary leaves to about 24" (60 cm) or more. The leaves are apple green, rigid, and usually curved. There is no cross-banding whatsoever and each leaf has deep impressed grooves that go from the base to the tip. For the size of the top growth, canaliculata has rather small rhizomes and the roots tend to be just below the surface as opposed to going deep.

Sansevieria caulescens has stiff leaves that can grow between 1.5-3' long, can be 1" thick with maturity, and spread out horizontally. The leaves have a channel that reaches almost to the sharp tips and the edges of the channels become reddish-brown with age. The leaves are very rough to the touch, and have lines and some widely spaced pale green banding.

Sansevieria fischeri, formally S. singularis is an interesting plant with it's leaves folded inward creating a channel. A further odd feature of this sansevieria is that immature plants look entirely distinct from adult forms. When young the plants make clusters of rosettes of thick, downward curving, channeled leaves of an interesting, mottled green color. A plant with multiple rosettes may be quite large and seem full grown, but at some point the growths will change to erect single leaves only, and a mature specimen will consist of a number of these very thick, very large leaves, up to several feet tall, protruding out of the ground with no sign of the rosettes from which they began!

Sansevieria fischeri x concinna LAV 5949 is a hybrid that shows traits of both parents. Growing tall like fischeri but with wider concave leaves with a bit of a stem at the base. The leaves are a deep green on the front and light on the reverse, both with cross-banding.
