Chaya - Cnidoscolus chayamansa
Chaya, Cnidoscolus cyayamansa, is an interesting and unusual large shrub growing up to 20' in frost free climates, 8-10' for me here in zone 8b. It has a main stem to 4" in diameter with uniformly 1" side branches and large, up to 9" palmate, dark green leaves giving Chaya a very tropical look. The young leaves are edible if cooked like spinach. Chaya blooms a small white flower on short stems at the top of the shrub so are often not seen but the fragrance can't be missed since they smell like lemon blossoms and can perfume a large area. Hardy in at least zones 8-12, probably colder with root protection.

Juanulloa aurantiaca
Juanulloa aurantiaca is semi-epiphytic, a member of the solanum family. Touted as a climber I would describe it more as a rambler, growing 6-8' or more with thick green stems and long, pointed mid-green leaves. It produces large, bright orange calyces that dangle like jewels with tiny orange flowers peeking out and for me, seems to bloom year around.
