Olive Tree - Olea arbequinea
Olea arbequinea, the graceful, billowing appearance of the olive tree can be rather attractive. In an all-green garden its grayish foliage serves as an interesting accent. The attractive, gnarled branching pattern is also quite distinctive. The small, fragrant, cream-colored olive flowers are largely hidden by the evergreen leaves and grow on a long stem arising from the leaf axils. The Arbequina Olive trees are grown throughout Spain and prove adaptable to a variety of climates. These dwarf varieties do not grow as tall as other olive trees, usually 8-10' but produce well after two or three years in the ground. These little olives produce very sweet oil, with a delicate almond overtone and are also great cured as green or ripe olives. Hardy in zones 8-11. In colder climate they can be grown in containers that can be brought inside during the winter. They will still bear fruit in containers, but will stay somewhat smaller in size. ONE GALLON SIZE
